I'm Linda Ratcliffe, bringing you a habit for your healthy music habitat.
From time to time, people ask me, how often do I need to tune?
Well, that's like asking me, How often do I need to shower?
If you want to smell good, and you want to look your best, you're going to shower every day.
And it's the same with your instrument.
If you want to sound good and you want to play your best, you're gonna tune your instrument every time you pick it up.
Now mountain dulcimers, it's not a big deal because you only have 3 or 4 strings.
Hammer dulcimer players, it's a different story.
So I have a little different rule.
If I stay at home, my masterworks holds its tuning very well and it's on an inside wall.
I'm tuning about once a week.
But if I go in public, I'm tuning every time I play.
