How it works:
When you register, you will receive access to the Class Resources page which will have the link to join a Zoom meeting. Click that link to attend the class each week. Zoom allows everyone to see each other throughout the class, so you can play along with Phil as he teaches. Student microphones will be muted unless they are asking a question, so you will only hear Phil's audio. The entire class will be recorded and be archived on the Class Resources Page for all registered students, along with any handouts.

Phil Kramer is a Multi-instrumentalist, Educator, and content creator living in Boulder City, Nevada. After ten years of working as a Freelance and Contracted musician in the Front Range of Colorado, Phil has created a full time lesson studio of Banjo, Fiddle, Mandolin, and Guitar students.

Solo Dulcimer-Week 1

- Note Input for Tablature and Standard Notation,
- Specialized Notation Specific for Diatonic and Chromatic Dulcimer.
Ideal for both First time and longer time users of a notation software!
Vocal Lines - Week 2
In this workshop, you will learn all of the “tricks of the trade” to recreate a vocal lead sheet in musescore.
This includes:
Single and two part harmonies.
- Lyric Input.
- Fermata’s and Time Signature Changes
- And a suite of Keyboard Shortcuts and workflows.
Ideal for anyone who would like to learn how to write down songs they have already written and would like to share with other people.
Custom Chord Diagrams - Week 3
In this “Custom Fretboard Diagrams” workshop, Students will learn how to use the “Fretboard Diagrams and Palettes.” Function in musescore. Whether you play, dulcimer, ukulele, mandolin, etc. this workshop will show you how to notate your favorite chord shapes over your scores.
Dulcimer Ensemble
- Week 4
In this workshop, Students will learn how to set up, format, and input the Staff and Tablature notation for a Small Dulcimer Ensemble. Mountain Dulcimer, Baritone, and Bass.
Learn how to:
- Easily set up Multi-Instrument Scores.
- Adjust the Playback Mixer.
- Input Dulcimer Specific Notation.
- Format and Print Individual Parts.
Alternate Tunings, Capos, Articulations and more
- Week 5
In this workshop, students will learn how to handle a variety of “Outside the box” that a folk musician may need to use.
- How to change the tuning of the instrument you are playing in tablature.
- How to add a capo to the music.
- Articulations and Bowings.
- Grace Notes.
- Fingerings.
- Much More.
