About the Lessons

1. Introduction This is a chorale arrangement by Johann Sebastian Bach of the old German tune, O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden, from Bach's St. Matthew's Passion. First Steve plays through the melody alone.
2. Drone When you add the drone to the melody, you hear places where the harmony blends with the melody but, in other places, the resulting sound is dissonant. We can see that some pieces work better with the drone than others.
3. Familiar Chords, A Part Steve uses familiar chord shapes to demonstrate the proper chords to accompany the melody. You may need to "woodshed" this for a while (play it over and over) until you are comfortable with the chords.
4. Familiar Chords, B Part Here Steve demonstrates the chords and their shapes for the B part.
5. Whole Tune Finally, Steve plays through the entire tune for us.
