VideoAbout the Lessons

1. Introduction Here Vi introduces himself and this great old fiddle tune by singing the melody.
2. Shuffle Bowing, Part A To play this melody on the fiddle, you will add a shuffle bowing pattern - which for the single or common shuffle is a long, short-short rhythm. Vi demonstrates how this pattern should be followed through the entire A Part.
3. Song Form Vi explains how a Part A and Part B arrangement usually corresponds with the alternating verse and chorus of a tune. Then he demonstrates Part A one more time.
4. Part B As often happens, the B part is a variation of the melody, which is added on to the basic melody. Vi tells us the notes to play and then demonstrates the B Part.
5. Whole Song Finally Vi plays through the entire tune, repeating both Part A and Part B twice.
